I’m aware that I haven’t posted in months, and I’m extremely sorry about that. I haven’t even been doing my weekly/monthly updates. There are a few reasons for this:
1. I’m a lazy piece of trash.
2. I’m back in school and that has been keeping me quite busy. (Although this isn’t really a legitimate excuse, seeing as I didn’t post all summer, either.)
3. I’ve been in a huge writing slump. In the past few months I’ve barely written anything. And well … there’s not much to say on the matter. I don’t even know why. I’ve just felt really uninspired, and I keep disliking everything I try to write.
But, I’m trying to crawl back up from my hole of unproductiveness.
Luckily, I don’t really have the choice in the matter, because I have to write a novel for my senior project. I think I’ve mentioned this before, but probably no one remembers: At my college, all fourth-year students are required to complete a year-long independent project. For mine, I’m writing and illustrating a novel, so I have until the spring to write a book and illustrate it … So uhhh, unless I want to flunk out of school then I’ll have to get writing again.
I’ve written the first few chapters of this project, which for now is titled The Waters and the Wild. The title comes from “The Stolen Child” by W.B. Yeats. I recently found out it’s also the name of a popular Harry Potter fanfiction, but hopefully not too many people know about that.
At some point I’ll probably make an illustrated cover for it, but here’s the one I made for now:
I don’t have a good summary of it yet, but I’ll just say it’s based on Irish mythology and hopefully it will be cool! I’ll try to keep posting updates about it as I write it. And I’ll be able to provide a more detailed description of it soon, once I get that sorted out.
Also, I’m doing NaNoWriMo again this year! As I said, I’ve already started The Waters and the Wild, but I’m going to be using NaNo to add 50,000 words to it. So I’m hoping that will help motivate me to get at least most of a first draft done. My username on the NaNo website is BrigidGH, so feel free to add me as a writing buddy if you’re also participating.
So, since I’ve neglected this blog so long: How is everyone? How’s your writing going? Is anyone else doing NaNoWriMo (and if so, what are you working on for it)?
